A Portrait of A Soul On Fire: The Meaning of Monica Maria Ramirez
Monica was born in Mexico City began painting at the age of six & exhibiting at the age of thirteen. She paints out of necessity and in every piece sends a message to her audience . She attempts to translate raw human emotion onto the canvas and for that reason she uses plenty of texture in her work. Monica likes to dabble in all of the medias (preferring acrylic and oil), She tends to paint figurative abstracts that encapsulate the human form with personified emotions through visual contexts. It is imagery where the self and the soul become almost protagonists to the visual novel of her work. Jackson Pollock showed her that there are no boundaries to painting and the surrealist taught her that there are no boundaries to concepts and ideas. Monica is fascinated by the personal human experience and her ability to transcend those emotions to canvas becomes her all encompassing mission with her artwork. She is also interested in the ancient ancestry of the Mexican culture. Ramirez is a raw, free-spirit that no bounds can hold not even her canvases or her artwork. She intends to paint as long as she can hold a brush and hopes to have her work shown in galleries all around the world.
