About the Artist

Artist’s Statement: Hi! I’m Jennie Bennett. I’m a jeweler who loves making beautiful, wearable art. My philosophy is to keep it simple. I love stones, so my focus is on showing off beautiful stones in simple designs.

I’m a native Texan born and raised in the Piney Woods and also where the cows think it’s heaven. I’ve enjoyed traveling and living in other parts of the U.S. and abroad and have an insatiable curiosity. Whether I’m selling at The Artists Market in Austin or at art shows in Texas or other parts of the U.S., I love meeting people from all over the world. I have sold pieces to tourists from several different countries and from throughout the U.S.

My background includes an early interest in woodcraft, sketching, literature, music and sports. I found my beginning in jewelry through a friend at a temporary office job. I started in beadwork in 1995 and learned silversmithing at Austin Community College in 2000. The summer of 2005, I studied with Austin artist Rita Ross, who helped expand my artistic vision.

Besides music, jewelry design and production has been the most rewarding work I’ve ever done. I love challenging myself in technique and design to keep the work fresh and new, and I love exchanging ideas with fellow jewelry lovers. So, come join me in this fun adventure.
